A's Stunned by Team Comprised Totally of Reserve Players....For Ninth Consecutive Time   Subscribe via RSS

Boston Avenue Athletic Club Headquarters- "Dave Leung never even capped for Jamaica" said the injured Jordan McKenzie, donning street clothes for the season opener.

"Sure he was called up to the full team three times, but he never played...."

The A's have a strategy in the last few years against their reserve team (who has arguably drank their way into being the first team (that's what qualifies the first team as the "first team")) and that strategy consists of keeping the game very close until halftime......and then leaving the complex.

This season was to be no different.

The A's started out with a few decent chances, the most notable being when Greg McKenna was absolutely reeled in by Eric Defraites in what should have been a one on one with the keeper and what "actually" was a not shot at all. B.A.A.C. returnee goalkeeper Matthew Moreland made his presence known when he virtually threw the ball in his own net. Charitable Matt. Cheers. A's forward Sonny Dalesandro didn't help matters when he spurned the first of what will probably be many golden chances this season, seeing his close range effort flash just wide of goal.

Halftime 2-0. Oh yeah, the Reserves scored a second goal in that half. Blah blah blah.

The second stanza saw the A's get five chances to work on their new kickoff play as the reserves beat up on their older brothers in the same fashion Orville used to drunkenly abuse Wilbur Wright before that whole flying shit came to fruition. The final score ended up being a goal closer than last year's 8-0 drubbing. Baby steps.
