Josh Knipfer Testimonial Match

Boston Avenue Athletic Club Headquarters- On a day where Josh Knipfer was honored for making his 100th league appearance for the club, the A's opted to shoot themselves in the foot as opposed to exploit and punish their opponents weaknesses.

The Athletic's started off quite well, creating the matches first few chances. On 22 minutes Jason Ganus stripped Sporting's center-back and slotted in Dalesandro, who after missing two previous chances, slotted home his second goal of the season and gave the A's a well earned 1-0 lead. The lead only bred complacent finishing as the rest of the B.A.A.C.'s attack and defense looked as strong as ever. Dalesandro missed two sitters, Ganus hit the post and saw the open net rebound fall to Ben Fell who followed suit and missed as well. A new term was coined Sunday..."Flubber 90". "Flubber 90" is where someone completely "flubs" (see also- mis-hit) the ball into the top corner of the goal. This is exactly what happened to the A's in the 42nd minute.

"The soccer gods need pleasing, and when you waste too many chances they have this uncanny way of making you pay for your missed chances with goals against the run of play" said stand in first half goalkeeper Justin Christian "the gods were present today"

Halftime: 1-1

The second half started off the same way the first half did. Good possession and plenty of chances created. Newboy McCurdy saw his point blank effort saved off of the line by a Sporting defender. Later McCurdy's left footed blast was parried away only to see Dalesandro's rebound effort also well saved. Their were several corners that only needed the faintest of touches to sway the scoreline into the A's favor. It just wasn't to be. In the 71st minute Sporting bent a free kick "around" the wall and the scoreboard read a harsh 2-1. To make a long story short, Ryan Harrison broke a guys ankle, they were given a penalty, they scored the penalty, they won 3-1, they shouldn't've, we all went to the bar, we got drunk, we play again this Sunday.
